I had the idea for TerraGuru.com mid-2006. I saw a few articles with data on the growing use and sales of GPS enabled devices and wanted to participate in the coming “heyday” of the GPS.

Research firm Strategy Analytics estimates that the number of GPS devices sold worldwide - including personal navigation units and applications built into cell phones and handheld computers - will grow from 18 million last year to 88 million in 2010.

In July 2006 when I was doing research for this site idea, there were over 2.6 million active searches for GPS products, software, information and community. Wow! It was quite the demand for information… and I wanted to help.

My idea was/is to create a GPS and mobile computing themed content-heavy website that combines:

• Product reviews
• Hardware and software purchases via affiliates
• Useful content, how-to’s
• Fun experiences, GPS art, adventure exploration
• Homegrown software tools and utilities
• Online and offline community
• Gathers traffic and community by being a leading, usable resource for all things GPS and mobile

We are starting slow, but hopefully we’ll be able to add new content, links and community. We hope you enjoy!
